The College of Health & Fitness (COHAF) has industry recognised courses for school students in Fitness, Sport and Recreation, Health and Business.

Students in schools across Queensland access our courses either as part of their school curriculum or by studying as external students of the College. Graduates have access to employment opportunities with industry employers when opportunities arise.

VETis stands for Vocation Education and Training in schools, although Vocational Education is available to anyone, at school or not. Taking advantage of vocational education opportunities while still at school may help with long term employment opportunities, getting into higher level study, or just give you valuable skills for life. Some courses may require a work placement in a real or simulated workplace to give you the opportunity to put your new skills into practice. Courses at the College of Health and Fitness give you access to skilled industry professionals who can help support and guide you through your studies.

The College of Health & Fitness works in partnership with many Queensland schools to provide an opportunity for students to undertake their SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation; HLT23215 Certificate II in Health Support Services; HLT37315 Certificate III in Health AdministrationSIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness or BSB30115 Certificate III in Business (& in some cases their SIS40215 Certificate IV in Fitness or BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business). Some of these students complete their course at school, while other students attend face-to-face classes at our College locations. Our easy to use eLearning platforms allow students to access their theory learning and assessment, their texts, and other valuable resources from the comfort of their own home or classroom. Plus, teacher and trainer support is easy to access so students can ask questions at any time.

    School-based apprenticeships and traineeships

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships (SATs) allow high school students, generally in Years 10, 11 or 12, to work for an employer and train towards a recognised qualification, while completing their secondary schooling and studying for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and/or Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

SATs combine study, work and training to provide students with a head start on their career. There are some eligibility requirements that are specific to school-based apprentices and trainees. Students must gain support and approval from their school to undertake a SAT and they must enter a training contract with an employer

The College of Health and Fitness is a Skills Assure provider for School based traineeships in SIS30115 Certificate III in Fitness.

The amount of work and level of difficulty will depend on the qualification you choose. A Certificate II qualification will generally require less time and be less difficult than a Certificate III qualification, but everyone and every qualification is different. Some qualifications will require you to undertake work placement in a real or simulated work environment. Successful completion of all qualifications will require you to complete all the theory and practical requirements of the qualification.

Some students complete a vocational qualification over 2 years, some over 1 and others may take 3 years. However long it takes, our instructors will support you by phone, email or in-person to help you achieve your nationally recognised qualification.

Contact us today to discuss the qualification you are considering, and we can let you know what it will involve and whether it’s right for you.

Vocational education qualifications are generally aimed at equipping students with practical and theoretical skills for a specific profession or field. The qualifications are designed to give you the skills and knowledge to perform the tasks required of a specific job outcome.

Successful completion of a vocational education qualification will help you in your search for employment in that area, but will not guarantee you a job.

The College of Health and Fitness has links with many employers across multiple industries and regularly receives requests for job applicants from amongst our graduates. We make a point of promoting our graduates and have plenty of success stories!

Each of the qualifications you can undertake as part of VET study has different entry requirements. To find out more about the requirements for your chosen program, give us a call and we can give you more information.

The Department of Employment, Small Business & Training provides funding through their VET Investment budget for eligible students undertaking eligible qualifications. Students undertaking VETiS, funded by the VET Investment budget, can complete one employment stream qualification at the certificate I or II level.

As a Skills Assure provider, The College of Health & Fitness can deliver SIS20115 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation and HLT 23215 Certificate II in Health Support Services to VETis eligible students.
