Yes, you can study online and you have up to 12 months to complete each of your nationally recognised qualifications in fitness (SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness or SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness). Studying online gives you the freedom to study anytime you wish. As well as your online studies, you will need to complete practical work experience and undertake practical assessment as part of your course(s).
You can qualify to become a personal trainer by completing our Certificate III and IV in Fitness courses (SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness and SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness). SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness is your entry into the fitness industry and once completed successfully, you can enrol in SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness. Once you have successfully completed both qualifications, you will be qualified to work as a Personal Trainer.
Becoming a personal trainer requires you to successfully complete SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness and SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness. These courses can be completed over a 12 month period each , but the courses are self paced, so you have some control over your progress. Qualifications or skills you already have may mean you do not have to complete all parts of the course(s). You can study online, or if you want to access our excellent trainers, then you can join other students in a classroom.
This qualification is your entry into the fitness industry. If you want to become a personal trainer or a fitness instructor, then you need to start with this qualification. SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness reflects the role of instructors who perform a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry. Depending on the specialisation chosen, this qualification provides a pathway to work as an instructor providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs.
The Certificate 3 Guarantee is targeted at certificate III qualifications because they are considered the entry-level qualification most often needed to gain employment in many industry sectors. It supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III qualification.
The College of Health and Fitness is a registered training organisation (RTO) approved to deliver SIS30315 - Certificate III in Fitness as a subsidised program to eligible Queenslanders.

SIS40215 - Certificate IV in Fitness is the course to successfully complete if you want to become a personal trainer. Personal trainers have specialist skills to train individual clients, or groups of clients, on a one-on-one or group basis, to improve health-related components of fitness in relatively low risk situations. This may include training of older clients and children.
